Volt is hiring immediately for an IT SECURITY SPECIALIST in Arlington, Virginia

Must be able to transfer or obtain and maintain a public trust clearance for the Department of Homeland Security..  A US Secret clearance is acceptable but DHS will perform their own background investigation prior to the start of work


As an IT Security Specialist for the Federal Programs team located in Reston, Virginia, you will support and implement information assurance and security engineering systems with requirements of business continuity, operations security, and regulatory compliance. You will assess and mitigate system security threats and risks throughout the project life cycle, validating system security requirements definition and analysis. You will also verify security requirements, and perform system certification and accreditation planning and testing and liaison activities. You will provide support from Prime Contractor worksite in Arlington, Virginia.

A week in the life of an IT Security Specialist:

  • review and dissect security scan results and coordinate responses to the Government with appropriate data center personnel.
  • perform, prepare, and ensure that the IT environment meets security audit requirements as defined.
  •  manage mitigation and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
  • provide support to security incidents and coordinate with technical staff.
  • schedule meetings to plan mitigation strategies.
  •  assist in the creation of Change Requests tied to security and coordinate deployment approvals.
  •  create patching schedules and coordinate resource allocation.
  •  review Information Security Vulnerability Management (ISVM) to determine which apply to the environment.
  •  provide reports to the Prime contractor or Government.
  • develop and maintain reporting on information security strategy, policies, and procedures. Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

To succeed at this job, you must have: experience in information security vulnerabilities and remediation, experience with AIX, Suse, and Windows OS, experience using diagnostic tools, understanding of firewall, proxies, security information, event management antivirus, and intrusion detection and prevention system concepts.

  • CISSP certification is  preferred
  • Must be fluent in English.
  •  Must be a strong communicator at all levels of an organization, is team oriented but can work independently with minimal supervision, and is self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Must have 12 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8 years’ experience with a Master’s Degree
  • Must have a degree in Computer Engineering; Computer Software Engineering or other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics related disciplines.
