Job Description

Volt is seeking a Java Developer who will be a member of our client’s development team, working on a tool supporting Structures work. Our client offers exciting job opportunities as one of the world's largest aerospace companies and by being a leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems.

The tool is developed in Java on the NetBeans Platform and will run on both UNIX and PC systems. This full lifecycle project involves developing the Graphical User Interface (GUI) design and tool design using the NetBeans Framework and participating on a small Agile team. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with project leads and customers to confirm and establish functional requirements and technical designs and be willing to take ownership throughout the entire SDLC.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • GUI development using Java Swing and Java FX
  • Development using the NetBeans Framework
  • Database connection supported via JPA and JBoss
  • Work in an Agile development environment, using agile toolsets

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Java development
  • Software development on a small, Agile development team
  • Participating in the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from Requirements Gathering through Testing
  • Automated testing using Junit
  • Experience generating test cases from requirements
  • Using configuration management and Continuous Integration practices

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS

  • C, C++, FORTRAN, UNIX (AIX/Linux)

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
