The Junior Buyer Planner performs daily job responsibilities with a fair amount of direction from the team.  Following purchasing policies and procedures, as well as expedite orders and track delivers to ensure satisfaction. This position creates daily purchasing requisitions and reports as well as send documents and orders for approval. The Junior Buyer Planner will spend the day focusing on tactical issues participating in purchasing/planning events.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chair or related field or equivalent combined education and work experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in administrative office support and/or manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility, and ability to easily adapt to rapid changes and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams (Purchasing, Customer Service, Manufacturing, etc.) with interruptions
  • Ability to research and apply critical information to evaluate product and conduct cost study
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is a must
  • High degree of initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving ability
  • Capacity and desire to learn and grow

Essential Job Functions:

  • Issue purchase/job orders based on reports, reschedule purchase/job orders and reconcile invoice discrepancies.
  • Communicate with customer service regarding lead-times.
  • Manage the flow of material to ensure production is satisfied.
  • Work with department buyer/planner to ensure Workrite is receiving material at the total lowest cost.
  • Assist management in the implementation of new systems and processes.
  • Work closely with inventory control to ensure stock levels are accurate and to resolve inventory related discrepancies.
  • Work with quality manager to resolve discrepant material.
  • Work closely with inventory control to ensure we have adequate supply
  • All other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires the ability to work at a computer terminal for long periods of time
  • Coordinating among departments and within the company requires the ability to move freely around the facility

Work Environment:

  • Position resides in company headquarters located in Petaluma, CA
  • Position is a member of a professional office environment which includes sharing spaces with other administrative or production staff


  • Business/Finance Degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Financial Reporting & Tracking
  • Vendor Relations
