Seeking Qualified Lab Technician

Volt is actively recruiting for a Lab Technician to work with a global company in Monroe, NC. The position is a 12-month contract that could lead to full-time employment for the right candidate. Candidate will need to be available to work 40 hours weekly.

Job Description Summary:
Perform various tests to evaluate performance of gas detection and related products. Testing requires ability to follow verbal and written instructions; documentation of test results in a detailed, organized and traceable fashion. Most tests require configuration of power and electronic data acquisition. Some tests require the construction of custom test fixtures using hand tools and electro-mechanical and pneumatic actuators. Test documentation and analysis shall be maintained in accordance with department standards.

Job Description:
Works with moderate work direction, and can identify issues/problems but may need assistance in resolving. Worker performs chemical, biological, physical, and/or mechanical analyses and tests required for research, development, or quality control of processes and products. Assists with compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and documenting results. Ability to follow procedures and methods and to work well on a self-directed team is required. Good mechanical aptitude and skills as well as experience and specific training in inspection procedures and/or the product line are required. Experience in a lab or technical environment is preferred. Must be computer literate with good communication and time management skills.

Basic Qualifications:
• 2 Year technical or vocational degree required
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in product test laboratory or manufacturing test environment
• Adept at utilizing hand tools, meters, and set-up of power and data acquisition for test fixtures and jigs
• Computer literate with basic knowledge of Excel
• Position entails occasional standing for extended periods, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and bending/twisting.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Labview and industrial communication protocols (i.e. Modbus, 4-20mA Loop)
• Familiarity with statistics, lean and six sigma methodologies.
• Compressed gas handling experience and fluid flow principles
• Experience in testing/programming embedded devices
• Computer literate with advanced knowledge of Excel
• Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills and skilled in working in a team environment
