Job Description

Volt is looking for a Lab Technician for our Fortune 500 client in the Charlotte, NC area.

The position supports ongoing testing requirements including regulatory pre-certification testing, sustaining, problem solving and root cause identification activities.

Job Description:

Perform various tests to evaluate performance of gas detection and related products. Testing requires ability to follow verbal and written instructions; documentation of test results in a detailed, organized and traceable fashion. Most tests require configuration of power and electronic data acquisition. Some tests require the construction of custom test fixtures using hand tools and electro-mechanical and pneumatic actuators. Test documentation and analysis shall be maintained in accordance with department standards.

1. Assists in laboratory experiments through testing and evaluation of new materials and products based on research. May assist in the development and modification of test methods and apparatus for new products and processes.

2. Performs statistical data analysis, interpretation, and documentation of experimental results in technical notebooks. May test or make visual observations on product samples from competitors. Communicates test results to the appropriate requester.

3. Assists in assuring availability of raw materials by maintaining and ordering needed supplies and equipment.

4. Maintains accurate technical reports for information transfer.

5. The job also requires performing other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• 2 Year technical or vocational degree required

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in product test laboratory or manufacturing test environment

• Adept at utilizing hand tools, meters, and fabrication /assembly of test jigs

• Computer literate with basic knowledge of Excel

• Position entails occasional standing for extended periods, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and bending/twisting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Labview and industrial communication protocols (i.e. Modbus, 4-20mA Loop)

• Familiarity with statistics, lean and six sigma methodologies.

• Compressed gas handling experience and fluid flow principles

• Experience in testing/programming embedded devices

• Computer literate with advanced knowledge of Excel

• Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills and skilled in working in a team environment
