Job Description

Great Aerospace Company in Burbank is hiring for a 3rd Shift Laser Operator. 

This is a permanent position with Healthcare Benefits! 

Responsibilities are Coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering to run CNC programs for multi- axis CNC Laser Center(s) using industry software or run directly at the terminal. Operates multi axis requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Applies working knowledge of machine shop practices and procedures, laser application on materials, shop math, and machine tool operation manuals.
  • Performs setup(s) by positioning, aligning, and securing fixtures and parts to work table.
  • Make multiple setups on same worktable.
  • Places machine in operation and observe proper traverse to starting point before beginning operation. Proves program by “dry running”.
  • Manually enters dimensional data into console for short-run jobs or during machine cycles.
  • Works with other various departments to create proper tooling fixtures to accommodate laser.
  • Perform first article to ensure quality conformance.
  • Performs first article of a particular part and approves or rejects the product.
  • Checks and makes required control settings.
  • Performs rework wherein the operations are essentially the same as those described above.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  •  High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or 7 years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to make any necessary changes to programs, when required, both manually and on the program. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. Must have a minimum of 3-axis CNC operating skills. Previous laser experience preferred.

Tools used:

  • Machinist’s hand tools, scales, precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, surface and depth gauges, micrometers, calipers, protractors, and go-no-go gauges.

Materials used:

  • Water, argon, ferrous and non-ferrous bar or sheet stock, castings, forging, and assemblies.
