Job Description

Laser Tracker Operator


This position is responsible for inspecting machined components, weldments, purchased components, etc. throughout the facility.  Utilizes a Romer arm and Laser Tracker, as well as conventional measuring devices.  Provides all necessary customer and internal inspection reports.

Minimum 3 years’ experience setting up and operator a laser tracker (Leica preferred).
Minimum 5 years’ experience of mechanical inspection of machined parts.  Familiarity with CNC milling preferred.
Competent with using Verisurf software.  Polyworks highly preferred or ability to learn Polyworks.
Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, Pro-E, and CAD/CAM software.
Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
Ability to read, understand and interpret prints as well as supplier specifications and requirements.
Ability to provide thorough, concise and understandable reports for both internal and external customers.
Strong sense of accountability and willingness to take ownership of assigned areas.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to re-prioritize and organize tasks in order to meet changing deadlines.

Shop floor environment with noise (under 80 db), dirt, oil and grease. Walking surfaces may be slippery and slip-resistant shoes are required. Occasional exposure to air-borne oil/coolant mist and hazardous chemicals. Position requires individual to be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., to climb in or on large machined parts and/or over or on large CNC machines. Uniforms are provided and required to be worn.
