Lead Electro-Mechanical Component Technician

Job Description

This position includes light management functions as well as doing hands on repair, assembly, soldering, or re-manufacture of electrical and electro-mechanical components utilizing company provided approved data. The lead technician will be responsible for organizing the training of his technicians as well as scheduling work assignments and providing technical support and mentoring to his technicians.   When not engaged in the management tasks the lead teach will be testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, electro-mechanical, and machined assemblies sent in for repair evaluation by our customers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide an interface between repair station GM, engineering staff, office manager and technicians.
  • Schedule shop assignments and coordinate with office manager to ensure customer service responsibilities are met.
  • Oversee training of technical staff.
  • Oversee shop maintenance and upkeep.
  • Test and repair aircraft components in accordance with company provided data (manuals, drawings, procedures, etc.) and company provided training.
  • Fabricate new aircraft components in accordance with company provided data and instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, clutter-free work area.
  • Correctly, concisely, and legibly fill out all company forms and reports as required by management (both written and online).
  • Work with co-workers to achieve goals and objectives set by management.
  • Work with management to develop new processes and procedures as necessary.
  • Assist in basic shop upkeep and maintenance including routine cleaning of the technician’s work area and periodic shop maintenance assignments.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external representatives, including management, customer reps, FAA inspectors, airline inspectors and similar (training provided).

Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of directly related work experience.
  • Technician candidate must own his or her own set of basic hand tools.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.
  • Applicants must be able to read and thoroughly understand technical drawings, blueprints, manuals, and instructions. A pre-employment technical skills and comprehension test may be required.
  • Interested individuals must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized.
  • Experience using a computer.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Electrical or Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience. Machinist experience a plus.


  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates degree or higher in a related technical field preferred.
  • Trade schooling or related industry experience required.
  • A&P certificate is not required (but it is a plus).
