Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is partnering with a well known industry leader to hire a Lead Design Engineer to oversee and develop custom cabinet systems for data enclosures. This is a direct hire, career growth opportunity! located in Anoka/St. Paul.

Job description

This role will partner with Engineering Project Leads to take projects and develop and design products from Discover, through Develop and Deploy and launch in a timely manner. At times will also partner with Marketing to survey our industry to identify vectors of growth and disruption, and then develop technologies that can be applied to specific products that address the identified vectors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Apply specific technological expertise to specific projects i.e. Data Networking Solutions
  • Works with cross-functional teams that launch products by taking market specifications from design to prototype to production.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing to partner with customers, engage in industry partnership, and establish other relationships enabling us to advance our product and technology reach
  • Translate customer needs into product specifications
  • Participate in cross functional product development teams
  • Coordinate and maintain development schedules
  • Supervise prototyping and testing
  • Direct outside activities such as regulatory or other third party testing ?
  • Establish test specifications and protocols
  • Assist in the development of product roadmaps 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

BS in engineering required. 7+ years of related engineering experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated knowledge in electrical & electronics engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge in complex sheet metal design
  • Demonstrated knowledge in psychometrics, refrigeration, and heat transfer 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in air conditioning compressor technology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all US, CSA & European safety codes, standards, practices and rules to ensure safety of employees, public and equipment 
  • Demonstrated skill in researching, analyzing and making recommendations related to complex applications
  • Demonstrated skill to read and interpret product drawings
  • Demonstrated skills as a thought leader with a combination of analytic rigor, conceptual ability, innovation, creativity, mental flexibility and judgment ?
  • Demonstrated skill to develop and deliver effective presentations at all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the technical strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the root cause of problems/issues by asking probing questions and the ability to develop recommendations for resolution 
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use product knowledge to make excellent decisions that result in improved customer satisfaction and is looked upon by others as resource for that knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects along with the ability to work in a fast paced team environment in a self-directed manner ?
  • Demonstrated ability to compose and interpret reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals ? Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
