Lead Electrical Engineer 

This company located in Spokane, WA which is world’s premier producer of rolled aluminum and the global leader in aluminum recycling is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer. The selected candidate are engineers who demonstrate the use of specialized knowledge to independently address more complex engineering problems. They are typically focused on design or product application/development work in a specific area. The incumbent in this role will possess highly specialized knowledge in a narrow technical discipline; develop broad knowledge of other engineering or scientific disciplines. The Lead Engineer will participate in project-focused roles that demonstrate multiple large-scale project successes on the plant/regional/global levels. They will serve as mentor to junior staff with responsibility for their technical development. The Lead Engineer will have the ability to assess viability of a technology, process or method, within technical discipline and make recommendations as to the best application based on business needs.  They will demonstrate a general knowledge of regional and global products and processes, business strategies and trends in the industry including plans of competitors. The incumbent is very active in sharing and adopting best practices regionally between R&T centers and/or plants and potentially globally.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate must possess a BS in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 or more years of progressive experience, or equivalent experience. Possesses highly specialized knowledge in a narrow technical discipline; develops broad knowledge of other engineering or scientific disciplines. Performs engineering tasks of high complexity; maintains and diagnoses critical equipment, processes, or performance issues. Has the ability to independently isolate a problem and draw upon knowledge and experience to design appropriate possible solutions. Independently troubleshoots most problems within area of expertise. Works autonomously. Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the KPIs for a work area or project and recognizes the significance to the business. Uses creativity, innovation and knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines and processes to solve complex problems affecting multiple sites. Integrates knowledge of a variety of disciplines to independently address more complex problems. Balances multiple priorities across multiple projects or work streams. Proposes, justifies and leads highly-complex projects for a site or highly complex segments of larger projects impacting multiple sites or the region/global levels.

Where appropriate, may supervise and give scientific direction to a support group or lead a small/medium project team in specialty area; accountable for outcomes of project teams.

Demonstrates a general knowledge of regional and global products and processes, business strategies and trends in the industry including the plans of competitors. Is very active in sharing and adopting best practices regionally between R&T centers and/or plants and potentially globally. Utilizes equipment in a safe operating manner and likely to participate in local site EHS initiatives. PLC programming for Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE and Modicon PLC’s. HMI / SCADA programming for Intellution, FTView, Wonderware, WinCC, PView HMI’s. 50% travel to client facilities internationally/domestically for equipment evaluation/optimization and startup. Effectively operate in multiple geographies and cultures.

Drive change of inefficient work processes impacting operations in area of accountability. Work cohesively with teams of other engineers to execute project objectives. Possess knowledge specific to rolled aluminum products and related processes, and can implement and identify simple or site-specific process improvements. Experience with combustion control systems. Experience integrating automation systems w/ Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Experience with virtualized servers and networks.
