Job Description


Under direct supervision of the Benefits Manager, the Leave Administration Lead will partner with HR Generalist and Business Partners regarding LOA's. The ideal candidate will lead programs for field and corporate level associates and will communicate changes by coordinating and administering employee leave requests under the Family Medical Leave Act as well as applicable state regulations; managing active leave cases; and serving as a subject matter expert on leave administration and applicable regulations.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works with employees and supervisors to complete required leave paperwork; reviews and approves completed paperwork, while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Provides technical expertise to employees and supervisors by explaining leave policies, procedures, and timelines and resolving problems or issues.
  • Performs case management activities for approved leave requests by providing regular updates on milestones and required return-to-work paperwork and monitoring leave usage.
  • Works with peers in Workers Compensation, HR, and Payroll to research and resolve employee leave issues and to coordinate the service provided to employees on leave and their supervisors.
  • Researches and compiles information on leave usage; develops and maintains reports and tracking documents to support leave administration activities.
  • Prepares recommendations for new or revised policies and procedures for leave administration. Participates in the implementation of approved changes to leave administration policies and procedures.
  • Develops and delivers training on leave administration and applicable regulations to a variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, both internally and externally, by exhibiting a high sense of urgency, exceptional follow up and follow through, and positive communications both verbally and in writing.


Qualifications & Experience:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Associates degree (A. A.) in Human Resource Management or related field from two-year college or university.
  • Three years of experience performing specialized and/or technical office support work, two years of which must have been in performing leave administration functions.


Knowledge & Skills & Abilities:

  • Able to research, analyze, and document procedures and practices
  • Understand and able to articulate standard benefits concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Familiar with of government compliance regulations both state and federal
  • Able to work independently and multi-task
  • Adaptive to a dynamic environment and can prioritize
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft systems preferred not required
  • Proficiency with various software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
