Job Description

Volt is looking for a Lead Metallurgical Analyst to work on-site with our customer John Deere in Waterloo, IA in a contingent position forecasted for 1 year.

Individual shall have the skills to operate various testing and analytical equipment including combustion carbon analytical equipment, OES spectrometer, and ductile image analytical equipment under the guidance of a Foundry Metallurgist. Skills required include chemistry laboratory support and test sample preparation/operation of polishing equipment grinding and polishing. Operation of this equipment includes calibration, standardization and reporting of results. This person shall have the capability to perform shift start-up and shutdown independently.

Individual shall be able to perform incoming materials standard procedures and testing. They shall also conduct defect analysis and produce OEM customer metallurgical reports. Skills shall include advanced instrumentation maintenance and product evaluations.

Lead analyst shall additionally perform scheduling of OEM suppliers and accept the responsibility for supply and inventory support. Special projects and analysis assignment completion is required. Engineering support of procedure and reporting development and improvement is considered a responsibility of this level of personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy/Material Science
  • 2 years or more experience with steel or cast iron
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office
  • Open to recent grad candidates who are open to learning
  • Previous Foundry experience is highly preferred
  • Candidates need to be open to all shifts (1st, 2nd and 3rd)
