Lead Senior Engineer / Design-Development

Recommend, manage, and lead development of technologies, products, and processes to meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule goals under minimal supervision.

Major Duties:

  1. Applies technical expertise, commensurate with training and job experience, in the development of products and processes involving development of new technology and application of technical solutions with significant technical risk. Manages and leads complex design efforts of new products or significant redesign efforts. Provides technical support for multiple products. Ensures high standards of engineering rigor are applied to technical decision making. Promotes an innovative engineering environment.
  2. Maintains continuing contacts with manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, vendors, and customers on technical matters. May be assigned to a project leadership role for projects requiring coordination of numerous activities. Proposes detailed engineering actions to supervisor to resolve technical issues. Often will serve as a project leader. Effectively communicates project status issues.
  3. Prepares detailed multi-year plans including resources, costs, and schedule necessary to complete assignments. Plans and organizes activities necessary to execute work assignments. Assures projects follow the design process and products are tested to PIC quality requirements.
  4. Assures that product documentation meets quality requirements. Participates in engineering leadership activities including new product development process improvements, hiring and retention of engineers, training, improving engineering tools, promoting innovation, and setting priorities. Involved in numerous design, product, and process review activities.
  5. Plans and directs PIC’s design engineering activities.
  6. Hires, directs and develops staff in the design engineering functions. 
  7. Follows safety guidelines.
  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from an engineering school. An ABET-accredited engineering degree is preferred.

Experience:  Six (6) years applicable experience
