This company located in Kent, WA (near Seattle) which is an industry leader in comprehensive, high performance interconnect solutions for Aerospace, Military, Space, Test and Measurement, Industrial and Medical Technologies is seeking a Lean & Continuous Improvement Manager for a full-time, direct opportunity.

The mission of the Lean and Continuous Improvement Manager is to reduce operating costs by serving as a leader of the company Operating System at both manufacturing and business process levels. The Lean and Continuous Improvement Manager will ensure the successful execution of COS activities and administers policy deployment activities, managing for daily improvement (MDI) and metrics reporting at regular intervals.


  • Ensure adequate alignment of the COS implementation and execution plans with the organization's vision.
  • Supervise COS staff such as leads and other company Operations System team members.
  • Champion lean initiatives in support of the company Operations System including shop floor, business process and point Kaizen events.
  • Support the organization and leadership by leading lean Kaizen events in Kent and other company locations as required and with the use of external consultants when necessary.
  • Establish, monitor and enhance lean continuous improvement performance with all company department managers on an ongoing basis.
  • Take primary accountability for effective execution of Policy Deployment and plant metrics reporting, ensuring monthly inputs are complete from each department. Accountable for updates and maintenance of factory X-Matrix.
  • Oversee Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) deployment objectives and continually work with kaizen area leaders to ensure sustainment of gains.
  • Lead the implementation of lean culture to all areas of the organization utilizing training, lean tools and providing training where necessary via programs such as the company Operations System Specialist (COSS) program and kaizen first day training.
  • Support problem-solving activities on manufacturing floor and throughout all business functions.
  • Maintain lean documents and visual controls such as scorecards, 5S, task cards, COS plant participation charts and COS communication boards.
  • Ensure the execution of COS Audits and maintain progressive 5S program within the plant.
  • Ensure effective execution and evolution of kaizen sustainment activities to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and provide the necessary feedback to the teams for optimal post-kaizen results.
  • Motivate and counsel employees in preserving an efficient and productive workplace.

This position will supervise COS staff at or below the position of Lead (i.e. COS Leads, COS administrators, COS Specialist reporting to the COS department).

Work is performed in a normal office environment with minimal physical risks involved. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.


Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job when in the manufacturing areas.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate must possess a High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required, Bachelor's Degree preferred, Bachelor's Degree in Business Operations or related field preferred. Three plus years of leadership experience required. Three plus years of background in the training, support and implementation of Lean Tools including facilitation of Kaizen activities.

Proficiency with Kata techniques including Coaching Kata and Improvement Kata required. Proficient within MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Outlook. Excellent presentation, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with a diverse group of individuals at all levels in the organization. Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Must maintain industry certifications as applicable to position and value stream that is supported. Including but not limited to; IPC-WHMA-A-620, IPC-JSTD-001, IPC-610, IPC-600 and NASA 8739.

Preference given to candidates with Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Six Sigma certification. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English a must. Work schedule is a 9/80 schedule. Travel required: 5-15%
