Job Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating a variety of production equipment that will serve many different purposes on the production lines for multiple kinds of products. The machine operator must be able to collaborate with multiple departments, communicate needs effectively, work quickly – but safely – and facilitate with continual improvement and training opportunities. Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest quality, cost and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment. The machine operator must be enthusiastic and maintain a strong willingness to own the personal care packaging processes. This position will also assist with making adjustments to equipment as needed to accurately produce quality product that meets customer specifications. Employee will be expected to comply with all safety and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the packaging functions of the area by coordinating and leading the activities of the filling line while maintaining the highest quality, GMP and safety standards.
  • Prior to starting line, ensure all equipment is operational, as well as product and components match scheduled production for the line.
  • Maintain standard line speeds and staffing levels. Basic maintenance on labelers, tape machines and any other equipment used on line.
  • Troubleshoot problems and take appropriate corrective action for people and equipment.
  • Check fill, torque and package quality in accordance with standards.
  • Keep work are free of debris, spilled product and any unsafe condition which will jeopardize safety and product quality.
  • Ensure correct and timely completion of all necessary paperwork.
  • Support other manufacturing areas as needed.
  • Responsible for reporting safety and quality issues and initiate action, as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum two years’ experience in a Production Operation capacity or related role within a manufacturing environment

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

• Perform basic math, with or without a calculator; including, but not limited to: addition, subtraction, multiplication
and division.
• Mechanical aptitude with prior mechanical experience.
• Proven efficiency on existing facility equipment.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities, scheduling and laying out assigned work      activities.
• Ability to work well with others and effectively contribute as a member of a team.
• Great written and verbal communication skills.
• Availability to work overtime and weekends.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
