LEAD or ASSISTANT LEAD MACHINE OPERATOR – FOOD PACKAGING MANUFACTURING

We have outstanding, immediate hire opportunities for Lead Machine Operators to work the 2nd or 3rd shifts with a growing food manufacturer and specialty packaging company in Totowa, NJ.  The position offers good opportunities for growth with a national company that manufactures a broad range of specialty food condiments and a variety of products for the food service industry. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Individual works on one of eight unique production lines creating finished goods as needed from raw material inputs. Must be able to work in fast paced environment and effectively communicate as needed, and must be able to read English as required.  May be required to climb, bend, and twist as needed to perform work. The Lead is responsible for safety, quality, and productivity for his or her line during a specified shift. The person must be self driven, goal oriented, and reliable.

  • Maintains proper process and controls as determined by quality department.
  • Conducts and leads CIP and COP cleaning and sanitation processes
  • Operates all equipment safely as needed for each process
  • Ensures proper Standard Operating Procedures are followed and Finished Good Product Standards are met.
  • Collaborates with other shift and/or department Leads to maintain/adjust batch and product schedule as needed
  • Ensure all direct reports comply with Industry standard “Good Manufacturing Practices”
  • Responsible for productivity and applicable performance efficiency metrics for the line
  • Performs tests and monitors processes as need
  • Maintain effective communication with management to insure they are informed of problems and issues which may impact production
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production packaging equipment
  • Works closely with mechanical teams if problems arise and ensure work orders are submitted for all mechanical issues and parts consumed.
  • Ability to perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance on machinery
  • Able to work unsupervised, as well as with other Lead Operators.
  • Ensures product safety through proper following of sanitation procedures.

PREFERRED SKILLS:  Technical Degree; Bilingual (English/Spanish)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 2+ years of experience as a machine operator and line lead on a packaging line for medical or food use products.

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Excellent food safety experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
