Job Description

Machine Tool Technician

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Machine Tool Technician in El Cajon!

Pay: $35.00 to $42.00/hour!

Long term, temp to hire employment opportunity!

Disassembly and rebuild of mechanical machine tool assemblies and sub assemblies.

Cleaning and preparation of machine components and sub-assemblies.

Troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assemblies.

Use precision test equipment to analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical problems. 

Laser calibrate machines.

Manufacture tight tolerance parts.

Troubleshooting of rebuilt and retrofitted machine tools.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in machine tool related industrial mechanical position.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with machine tool scraping and fitting experience
  • Extensive machine tool knowledge and terminology.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Experience in rigging and related safety procedures.
  • Some knowledge of industrial electrical systems and wiring.
  • Basic CNC control operation experience.
  • Familiar with techniques, equipment, limitations, and application of measuring, testing, and inspection equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of machine tool geometry.
  • Extensive mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting abilities.
  • General machining ability in turning, milling, and grinding applications.
  • Basic welding and cutting torch skills.
  • Ability to use and operate tube bending and hose making equipment.
  • High level of knowledge of hand tools and some power tools.
  • Mechanical hand tools and tool box.
  • Ability to size and use taps and tap drills.

  • Cleaning equipment training.
  • 5 years experience in machine tool related industrial mechanical position.
  • 2 or more years machine tool scraping and fitting experience
  • Extensive machine tool knowledge and terminology.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Experience in rigging and related safety procedures.
  • Limited knowledge of industrial electrical systems and wiring.
  • Basic CNC control operation experience.
  • Familiar with techniques, equipment, limitations, and application of measuring, testing, and inspection equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of machine tool geometry.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting abilities.
  • Limited electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Basic math skills in fractions and decimals and trigonometry.
  • General machining ability in turning, milling, and grinding applications.
  • Basic welding and cutting torch skills.
  • Ability to use and operate tube bending and hose making equipment.
  • High level of knowledge of hand tools and some power tools.
  • Mechanical hand tools and tool box.
  • Ability to size and use taps and tap drills.
  • Basic electrical theory.
  • Advanced wiring methods knowledge. Including color coding, proper connection, neatness, wire gauging and sizing.
  • In depth knowledge of magnetic panel layout. (Proper spacing of components, High and low voltage separation etc.)
  • Good understanding of electrical systems and components and how they work.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards.
  • Ability to power up controls and troubleshoot a wide variety of machine tool problems.
  • Strong working knowledge of analog and digital servo systems.
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot basic to intermediate PLC/Ladder diagram circuits.
  • Proper soldering techniques training.
  • Limited computer skills
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
