Multiple Machinist I Wanted

Day, Swing, and Graveyard shifts available
$17.00 to $21.00 per hour, depending on shift and experience
7:00am-3:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm, 11:00pm-7:30am

If so, then Volt is looking for you! Volt has opportunities with a leading auto parts manufacturer. Our client in the Milwaukie area has multiple Temp to Hire Day, Swing, and Graveyard Machinist Level I’s available. These are contract to hire in as soon as 90 days with outstanding benefits package. Qualified candidates will be able to work in a team, perform multiple assembly procedures, and ensure the overall quality of the product.

Job Duties:

  • Perform machinist duties as assigned using standard procedures, tools, materials, machines, and equipment in a fast-paced work environment while meeting all established production expectations and deadlines.
  • Follow well-established guidance from specified process instructions, blueprints, and communicated instructions from other team members.
  • Perform a variety of Quality procedures including visual, sound, and measured specifications.
  • Operate machine while loading and tending runs of parts, or performing one-step operations on individual parts, including making simple machine adjustments and running one or more machines as directed or requested.
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members during team meetings, system reviews, safety meetings, and other forms of problem-solving discussions to further define and improve department strategies designed to meet and exceed quality objectives.
  • Mentor less experienced or new machinists on machining process. Train other machinists on processes and procedures as directed and provide necessary follow-up and guidance to achieve professional development objectives.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned to meet team, department, and organizational goals. 

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities: 

  • 6 months of prior machine operation experience, preferably in a metal or plastic fabrication environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to review, comprehend, interpret, process and evaluate effectively written work instructions and procedures. These are in the form of prints and specs/diagrams.
  • Strong interpersonal and team work skills
  • Strong technical, trouble-shooting, problem solving, research, organizational and analytical skills, combined with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines. 
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Lift, transport and/or move a specified amount of weight frequently each day in the performance of regular duties as outlined below with respect to each machining area.  Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and descending a stepladder may also be required.
  • Use a personal computer or other technology devices frequently and consistently for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data and other business-related information.
