We are looking to hire a qualified Machinist at Level "C" /Machine Shop Technician for the Afternoon shift for our Client in the Aerospace industry for approximately a 1 years assignment in Burlington, ON.

There are 4 openings for this role, and this will be a 1 year assignment to start in Burlington, ON with the strong possibility of being transferred to the Oakville, ON facility after the 1 year period as Strong Candidates will be referred to the Oakville location for opportunities at the end of assignment.

A Quarterly bonus is available with an Afternoon shift premium of $0.95/hour on top of the Pay rate.

  • Pay Rate: Depending on experience, the pay rate goes upto $35/hr (T4) + $0.95 shift premium per hour + benefits available

Interested Applicants must be able to meet the following Main Requirements:

1) Must have at least a High School Diploma
2) Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints
3) Must be able to work steady afternoons (3pm - 11pm EST)
4) Must have experience using verniers, micrometers and bore gauges

Primary Responsibilities: 

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Machine Shop Technician will be responsible for operating machinery in the overhaul repair shop and for repairing complex parts, producing to close tolerances. Please note this position is for the Afternoon Shift. 

  • Perform own set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling and components 
  • Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine adjustments, cutter changes, calculating feed and speeds and performing operator self-verification (OSV) 
  • Document final sizing on work router and communicate all discrepancies in machining to supervision 
  • Pre-sizing of required bushings to provide desired press fit for installation 
  • Perform work from set-up sheets and technique sheets and if none, create accordingly. 
  • Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the department 
  • Support TPM action and daily clean ups 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 
  • Work in a safe team-oriented environment and follow the 5 cardinal rules 


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for “B” Entry Level: 

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent plus recognized and accredited college/trade program plus three (3) years at Machinist “C” level plus General Machinist / Tool Die Certificate of Qualification or recognized and accredited college/trade program plus General Machinist / Tool Die Certificate of Qualification plus five (5) or more years prior outside Machining experience on a boring mill 
  • C of Q strongly preferred 
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, utilize micrometers, verniers, etc., in support of quality requirements 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Willingness to train and operate other machines in the cell
  • Self-starter with initiative and the ability to work independently 
  • Must be willing and able to work steady Afternoon shift (Mon- Fri between 3pm - 11pm EST) and support off shifts as needed including weekends.
