We are looking to hire a qualified Machinist at Level "C" /Machine Shop Technician for the Day shift for our Client in the Aerospace industry for approximately a 10-11 month assignment in Burlington, ON.

Job Description
 

Summary: Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, the Machine Shop Technician (Bush / Hone) will be responsible for operating machinery in the overhaul repair shop and for repairing complex parts, producing to close tolerances.

Primary responsibilities:
 

*Please note this position is for the Day Shift. 


Level I & II:
•Verifies and inspects work performed with all available types of measuring equipment. Ensures compliance with Engineering and Overhaul instructions.
•Utilizes all measuring equipment in order to maintain specified tolerances.
•Performs own inspection as job progresses.
•Reports any discrepancies that cannot be altered independently.
•Machines parts as requested on the Rework Material Shop Order or salvage drawing.
•Monitors machine oil, fluid levels and operation.
•Ensures proper running of machine and minimizes down time.
•Installing, honing and reaming of bushings in line to final dimension as per Rework Material Shop Order or per Fits and Clearances Table.
•Read blueprints for parts identi fication and repair limits and refinishing.
•Maintains and cleans the equipment and work area on a daily basis.
•Completes necessary paperwork to accompany machined part.
•Performs complete set-up and inspection procedures.
•Troubleshoots machining problems and trains co-workers as required.
•Wears company-provided personal protective equipment designated for this department.
•Uses hydraulic press and related tooling to install bushings.
•Presize components by performing calculations to insure required fit.
•Attend and participate in CI initiatives, 5S events and ACE meetings for the department.
•Maintain shelf life control item and calibration of equipment.
•Upon the installation of a bearing, swaging operation to be performed as per shop work order instructions.
•Participate in DIVE or event as required.
•Other duties as required
•Work in a safe team-oriented environment and follow the 5 cardinal rules

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications for “B” Entry Level:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent plus recognized and accredited college/trade program plus three (3) years at Machinist “C” level plus General Machinist / Tool Die Certificate of Qualification or recognized and accredited college/trade program plus General Machinist / Tool Die Certificate of Qualification plus five (5) or more years prior outside Machining experience
•Minimum 4 years of Bush/Hone experience
•C of Q strongly preferred
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints required
•Ability to work shifts as required to business needs.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Self-starter with initiative and the ability to work independently as well as demonstrated teamwork skills
