Job Description

Our client is in search of their newly created role of a Maintenance Manager -this is a growing company and offer a very comprehensive benefits and compensation package! You will oversee and coordinate all plant maintenance activities including reactive and preventative equipment maintenance and repair.

• The jobholder will manage a large team of 20+ skilled Maintenance Leads and Technicians and a scheduler. The Manager is responsible for hiring the talent necessary to ensure the effectiveness and performance of the team.

Essential Responsibilities

• An absolute intolerance for unsafe situations and actions. Proactive in establishing safe working conditions for the entire factory. Reactive to all situations where safety is an issue and employees are at risk.

• Oversee and coordinate all plant maintenance activities including reactive and preventative equipment maintenance and repair on very heavy industrial recycling and plastic manufacturing equipment.

• Manage a large team of 20+ skilled lead and maintenance technicians to ensure a disciplined and consistent process for the periodic maintenance/preventative and reactive maintenance of all equipment and facilities.

• Be proactive in ensuring alignment with the functional manufacturing teams and seeking additional resources or preparing training if a gap exists.

• Execute against all operational issues and identify appropriate plans to streamline operations, increase equipment uptime and reduce manufacturing cost and unnecessary repair costs.

• Implement significant changes only after discussion and approval from the Directors of Engineering and Operations understanding their impact on product safety/quality, people safety, and the environment.

• Experience with Process Improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Organizational Excellence, Practical Process Improvement, etc.)

• Ensure all maintenance Leads and Technicians are fully trained and skilled to complete the work. Regularly assess skill levels and recommend training programs to upgrade the skill levels on the maintenance team.

• Manage the hiring of talent into the function and oversee the development of the team and with the

leads, manage operational performance and compensation of individuals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in  or related studies (Mechanical, Materials Science, Chemical,

Food, Packaging, Electrical or other). Highly qualified candidates with significant work experience you will be considered if you do not have a four-year degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Manage and lead a team; ensure adequate staffing levels, recruitment, training, development,

appraisal, attendance and address any disciplinary issues.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize a changing workload in a very fast-paced environment.

• Project management skills in the maintenance, repair and upgrade of existing equipment and in the

oversight and installation of new lines.

• Ensure the success of preventative maintenance as the multi-discipline, team-based approach to

proactively maintain/improve the reliability and performance of the company's assets to deliver

continuous improvement in the value the assets bring to the business.

• Hands-on with experience in the maintenance and repair of state-of-the-art PET recycling and

polymer processing and converting manufacturing equipment, (i.e. sheet/film extrusion, injection

molding, thermoforming, or other large, sophisticated manufacturing equipment.)

• Experience in the design, implementation, and management of scheduled and ad-hoc equipment

servicing, refurbishment, and repair.

• The desire to teach and mentor

• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills

• Must possess computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets
