Job Description

Shift-  12 hour shifts (Needs flexibility to work overtime and Saturdays)

Under minimal to no supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots, repairs and performs predictive/preventative maintenance on all manufacturing equipment within an assigned location.  Secondary duties include, but are not restricted to, upgrading and installation of new equipment and general facility maintenance. 

Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, food safety and quality, cost and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preforms daily inspections along the production line and responds to escalated maintenance/production machinery issues to implement repairs in a timely manner.
  • Designs performance diagnostic schedules and ensures timely inspection and routine testing of all machinery to ensure proper operation.
  • Control Waste Water System
  • Responsible for the following systems Air Compressor, Steam Boiler, Nitrogen System, Air Ventilation.
  • Monitors operational production reports to identify and resolve mechanical manufacturing deficits to minimize delay and prevent financial loss.
  • Advises team and plant management on recommendations for performing rebuilds and/or upgrades to extend machinery useful life.
  • Oversees replacement part ordering processes inclusive of approving all orders and ensuring proper log management and inventory tracking.
  • Ensures compliance with all FDA, OSHA, local regulatory agencies and auditing requirements
  • Assists with the training and development of Jr. maintenance team members.
  • Assists in development of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues and initiate action.
  • Follow all Food Safety guidelines, such as, but not limited to: GMP’s, Allergen Program, HACCP, Sanitation, Safety
  • Supervise maintenance crew in case if supervisor is off

Requiring skills

  • PLC/SLC knowledge
  • VFD and communication knowledge
  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills
  • Basic electronics knowledge
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Welding skills

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Average electrical skills
  • Advanced mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of state regulation and guidelines
  • Knowledge of safety regulations
  • Ability to flow direction from the supervisor
  • Ability to rotate shifts and respond to emergency calls
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays if needed
  • Ability to read and speak basic English
  • Ability to use basic tools and make simple mechanical adjustments
  • Willingness to work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment
  • Willingness to work independently with minimum instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to operate a fork lift and man lift
  • Wear all required protective equipment
  • Adhere to all GMP Procedures
  • Obey all food and human safety rules and regulations.
