Now Hiring: Manufacturing Machine Maintenance Supervisor - San Diego, CA

Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, this opportunity provides leadership for the Industrial Machine Maintenance Department. Must have extensive experience with troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, modifying, rebuilding and maintaining plant equipment in a safe and effective manner.


  • Directly supervises maintenance department employees, which includes mechanics, welders and electricians.
  • Determines work priorities for weekly and daily maintenance schedules and coordinates maintenance activities affecting production or quality.
  • Responsible for promoting, supporting and enforcing the elements of OSHA requirements, maintaining strict adherence to Osh and Company safety policies/procedures as they apply to the maintenance department.
  • Conducts daily shift start-up meetings (Tool Box Meetings) to discuss any safety issues and expected workload.
  • Performs Job Hazard Analysis and Incident Investigations to maintain the safest work environment possible.
  • Takes ownership of processes; performs maintenance program audits (Lockout/Tag out, Confined Space, Fall Protection, PPE, mobile equipment, etc.).
  • Ensures machinery is safe and working optimally; constantly alert for hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Manages the Production housekeeping and 5s program.
  • Responsible for the reliability of the equipment throughout the plant, monitoring the equipment and ensuring preventative maintenance and repairs and improvements are made as needed, making maximum use of planned outages.  This includes heavy industrial machinery such as plant equipment, piping systems, fluid power systems.
  • Troubleshoots issues on plastic extrusion machines and auxiliary equipment and machinery including PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, etc.
  • Reduces MTTO (occurrence restoration), increases MTBO (between occurrences).
  • Ensures an accurate electronic log of all Work Requests and Work Orders is maintained, in cooperation with maintenance planners.
  • Works with Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering, and Physical Distribution in maintaining services for the plant.
  • Assists Plant Manager in various production related duties.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees as well as apprising performance and rewarding/disciplining and addressing complaints
  • Conducts annual employee performance reviews; works closely with Manager to implement wage increases.
  • Communicates, motivates, supervises, counsels and disciplines all direct reports when necessary.


  • Minimum of 8 years of broad-based industrial maintenance experience, and a core skill set in extrusion machinery and maintenance equipment.  That experience will encompass Electrical/PLC, Robotics, Mechanical, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Welding, Machining, Conveyor systems, etc. 
  • Working knowledge of all or some of the following: electrical/electronic circuits, PLC’s, wire installation/termination, combustion, power distribution, electronics process control computers conduit threading, schematics, bending and installation, AC and DC drives and welding.
  • Ability to read, follow and understand electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings, blueprints, schematics, code requirements, service manuals and manufacturers’ specifications
  • Must be "hands on" to ensure staff receives proper training to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities of team.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Principles and 5S.
  • Working knowledge to operate mobile equipment including forklift, man lift, scissor lift, and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to ensure minimum interruption to process.
  • Ability to perform maintenance duties in a team environment with ability to work alone as needed.
  • Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent planning skills.
