Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia 

  • General areas of responsibility include conducting scheduled maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting faults and undertaking repairs; and selecting, engaging and working with outside contractors.
  • Operate and maintain a wide variety of mechanical tools.
  • Perform routine operating functions and trouble shooting on all equipment.
  • Repair damaged equipment back to good working order by utilizing mechanical knowledge in order to problem solve.
  • Maintain production equipment in a manner that meets organization standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new maintenance equipment and tools to enhance the capabilities of the maintenance team.
  • Set, calibrate, or adjust equipment, machinery, and instruments so that it complies with production specifications or instructions.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Responsible for painting various surfaces as required and in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Performs all job duties in accordance with OSHA standards and adhere to all policies, rules, regulations and procedures set by the FEI organization.
  • Performs other related duties as requested by management.
  • Conduct carpet cleaning actives.
  • Respond quickly to maintenance issues and requests.
  • Perform minor lighting maintenance, such as, replacing light bulbs.
  • Perform minor repairs to cabinetry, sinks, faucets and other restroom and kitchen fixtures. Provide support for air conditioning/refrigeration equipment repairs.
  • Perform minor equipment system maintenance to minimize service interruptions and equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with Facility Staff and vendors to resolve issues.
  • Provide “on-call” support for after hours issues that may arise within the facility.
  • Position is considered part of the essential personnel for the campus.
  • Position requires considerable physical activity including walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, standing, grasping, balancing, climbing, kneeling and crouching.
  • Clean and sanitize work area, vehicles and loading docks.
  • Erect and modify cubical modules as required.
  • Assist in snow removal during adverse weather conditions.
  • Assist outside maintenance crew as needed.
  • Load and unload shipping vehicles at the Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. Headquarters campuses.
  • Operate company vehicle to transport material to offsite headquarters locations.
  • Use hand trucks, dollies and other equipment to convey material throughout the facilities.
  • Monitor, schedule, deliver and retrieve fleet and executive vehicles to and from local auto facilities during scheduled maintenance.
  • In addition to the essential job functions described above, all associates will perform duties as requested by management.
  • Assigned duties may vary based upon facility operations and seasonal conditions.
