Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking a talented Maintenance Technician II for a micro-irrigation solutions innovator in sunny San Diego, Ca (92121).

Under minimal supervision, repairs and maintains various types of electronic production and development equipment.  Follows blueprints, drawings, and general instructions to plan and prioritize assignments. Work with all team members to help support common production goals.

Work includes:

  • Troubleshoot and repair production machines and equipment.
  • Installing, leveling, and lining up machines, equipment and mechanical systems. 
  • Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and perform required maintenance on machines, equipment and mechanical systems. 
  • Required to use a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools to perform assignments. 
  • May perform work in more than one maintenance trade including:  carpentry, plumbing, painting and installation of office fixtures.  May also specialize in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.


Duties and responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:

  • Uses advanced blueprint, schematic and drawing knowledge for interpretation.
  • Uses advanced mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, determines appropriate repair or replacement of parts, perform preventative maintenance and inspections using proper tools and procedures.
  • Uses advanced electrical skills to troubleshoot electromechanical equipment to component level.
  • Uses advanced hydraulic/pneumatic skills to troubleshoot equipment for repair and preventative maintenance.
  • Uses advanced communication skills to develop plans of action, to prioritize work in coordination with production goals and pass down important information to keep plans in progress become successful.


  • Read and interpret documents at a level to conduct training as needed; such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedures. 
  • Possess excellent written skills for routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Possess excellent verbal communication skills to clearly keep all teams informed of daily issues.
  • Follow up on completed jobs assigned.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Mechanics - (possess advanced mechanical skills)
  • Electrical - (up to 480 V)
  • Electronics - advanced repair, down to component level
  • PLC troubleshooting – advanced level of experience
  • Pneumatics (compressed air systems)
  • Hydraulics
  • Plastic extrusion equip.
  • Vacuum/blower systems
  • Water/oil pumps
  • Heat exchangers
  • Plumbing
  • Soldering or silver brazing
  • Fabrication in wood, metal, plastic, etc.
  • HVAC repair a plus (chilled water systems)
  • Facilities maintenance


Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school a plus; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
