Job Description

Our Client, a large military defense company located in North Dallas, seeking a Manual Machinist:

Responsibilities include prototype design, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and rework/repair of Special Tooling and Special Test Equipment. Prototype & production builds require operation of manual mill and lathe, precision part inspection/measurement equipment, as well as other standard machine shop tools and equipment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in operating manual mill and lathe, saw, drill, and inspection equipment to meet precision machining and measurement requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in metal fabrication processes, DFMA practices, and utilization of hand tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assembly manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and tooling engineering drawings including a basic knowledge and understanding of GD&T.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word
  • Previous experience handling and reworking sensitive electronic hardware
  • Knowledge of government property handling requirements including knowledge of UPS system (Uniform Property System) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical wiring and reading schematics
  • Capable of troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining machine shop equipment


  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent years’ experience: 8+ years
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to work overtime on short notice
  • Effective communication skills required
  • Past experience with special tooling design and assembly
  • Proficiency with Pro-Engineer and ACAD
  • Ability to obtain secret clearance
  • Ability to accurately estimate fabrication costs
  • Ability to look for and implement cheaper, better, faster ways of doing business and voice findings to management
  • Ability to execute work while following all shop safety procedures
  • Capable of successfully working with minimal supervision in a self-motivated manner
  • Must have the ability to succeed in a teaming environment with timely problem resolution utilizing a positive, proactive attitude and a strong customer focus

Pays: $28 - $31 per hour based on experience
