We are looking to add a skilled Manual Machinist to our dynamic team. You will be part of a company that manufactures Medical Supplies and Masks for essential workers.

JOB SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates manual conventional machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools and equipment.  Assemble and debug mechanical systems of custom built automated production machinery.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Will include but not limited to: 

  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, manual vertical milling machines, grinders, drill press, hydraulic press, circular saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
  • Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics, and composites from prints, sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
  • Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
  • Repair / refurbish damaged machine parts and mechanical systems.
  • Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
  • Complies with all quality policies, safety rules and regulations and instructions, housekeeping and good shop practices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Inside:  Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.  A job is considered "inside" if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.

Noise and Vibration:  The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. 

Hazards:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on work experience as machinist or tool and die maker.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Equivalent technical training.
  • Experienced with pneumatic components and other automation systems is a plus.

Must have a general knowledge of:

  • Conventional machines such as lathe, manual vertical milling machines, grinders, drill press, hydraulic press, circular saw, band saw.
  • Cutting tools, various metals and the quality and machinability and uses of metals, alloys and other materials.
  • Ability to interpret assembly and part drawings.
