Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions has an immediate open need for a Manufacturing Engineer for an Aerospace company in Renton, WA.  Our client designs, engineers and manufactures Interior Structures, Crushed Core Seat Shells, Cargo Liners.

Role Responsibilities & Needs:

  • Responsible to develop tools, processes, machines and equipment to integrate the facilities and systems for producing quality product with the optimum expenditure of capital.
  • Experience with composite process and specifications of thermoset and/or thermoplastic parts and structures.
  • Establishing sequences of operations to fabricate and assemble composite products that promote efficient utilization of equipment and labor.
  • Implementing new manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for applying and establishing statistical methods, which control the process and maximize productivity.
  • Supporting various products, equipment and disciplines to increase productivity, quality, efficiency, volume and/or environmental requirements.
  • Implementation of continuous improvements by the use of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen methods.
  • Creating or providing feedback of production schedules and milestones.
  • Reviewing drawings, models, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures and activities.
  • Experience in establishing qualification plans, in order to qualify processes and equipment to the customer specifications.
  • Familiar with composite autoclave or oven curing cycles, thermal profiles, recipes, thermal effects, thermal expansion, wrinkles and tooling spring back effects.
  • Designing or defining the requirements for the development of equipment, robotics, Lay-up molds, Vacuum Holding Fixtures, Shop Aids, Positioning fixtures, Go-No-Go inspection tools required for the manufacturing of new products.
  • Capable of performing safety, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and Total Product Maintenance (TPM) for new and existing equipment.
  • Performing Corrective and Preventive, utilizing an analytical reasoning, and the use of industry standard methods, such as 8D or other equivalent root cause analysis.
  • Coordinates with vendors, staff and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and incident/project status.
  • Applies engineering principles when analyzing data and investigating issues.
  • Patrols and monitors work areas, examining tools and equipment in order to detect unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules.
  • Responsible to develop production standards.
  • Responsible to evaluate or check other manufacturing engineers work.
  • Understanding of industrial engineering practices, such as, time studies, statistical analysis, ergonomic impacts, value engineering principals.
  • Provides mentoring to other manufacturing engineers.

Specific Job Skills:

  • Statistical Analysis
  • Problem Solving/Analysis.
  • Read and comprehend drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Boeing and Airbus process and specifications.?
  • Skilled in MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
  • Epicor experience or equivalent ERP system
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills; able to prepare technical documents to be sent to customers.
  • Proficient in Catia V5, Inventor, Pro-e, Solid Works, or other 3-Dimensional CAD system.
  • Familiar with Fiber Sim or equivalent (Draping software for lay-up wrinkles and ridging)
  • Familiar with Delmia Siemons or Inventor CFD or equivalent (Thermal Profile)
  • Familiar with COMPRO Simulation Software for Spring Back Issues
  • Familiar with Fiber Sim Draping software for lay-up eliminate wrinkles and ridging.
  • Understanding of AS9100D and NADCAP standards

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 4-7 years.

Non-degreed 15+ years’ minimum experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in this job description.
