Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising a group of Manufacturing Engineering Interns and Manufacturing Engineers through product industrialization activities for new product development and continuing production support.

The client is looking for someone with 5-7 years of Manufacturing Engineering Leadership experience.

This position will assist in the assignment of engineers to specific process improvement activities, ensure that their specific responsibilities are clearly defined, and monitor the progress of activities to ensure adherence to schedules. Additionally, along with the Director, the position will be responsible for identifying opportunities for strategic initiatives that can make step changes in efficiency. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will have direct-reports, Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing Planners, and Manufacturing Engineering Interns, within the department and will assign activities ensuring that their responsibilities are clearly defined and monitoring the progress of activities to ensure adherence to schedules.

  • Leads the Manufacturing team during all phases of the industrialization process by providing value engineering evaluation, providing direction & guidance to the team, and developing/monitoring open issues.

  • Stimulates generation of technical ideas and concepts; recommends engineering activities and investigation of technical areas which hold potential for benefitting the department; maintains surveillance of the overall technical effort to assure that it produces timely results which are profitable to the company.

  • Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.

  • Along with the Director, sets employee goals and manages achievements. Develops employees through mentoring and assigning specific work to enhance employee technical and personal growth. Responsible for the performance/merit reviews (min annual) of the employees.

  • Identifies areas for improvement in manufacturing processes and drives resolutions to improve manufacturing techniques. Works with peers to establish best practices to be enacted across the department. Monitors progress and adapts tactics to resolve unexpected complications.

  • Performs administrative functions to support the working team such as reviewing work, performing analysis, reviewing and releasing drawings, monitoring manufacturing activities, etc.

  • Keeps abreast of manufacturing technology development in the industry; investigates new ideas in the department's field of interest to determine their value to or effect upon the company.

  • Serve as back up for the Director during absences or business travel.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Supervises the Manufacturing Engineering Interns, Manufacturing Engineers, Planners and any applicable contractor engineers.
