Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions has a direct hire opening with our client in Decatur, IL and they are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes within the machine and fabrication shops by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions: 

  • Have a clear understanding for CNC machining, Fabricating and MIG welding.
  • Ability to read blue prints and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Tooling to ensure efficient production methods and programming of production needs.
  • Estimate production times and related cost to provide information for management decisions.
  • Building maintenance and equipment maintenance is a responsibility of the engineering team. Based on experience and knowledge in this may have duties assigned.
  • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Record production, repair and machine maintenance information.
  • Collaborate with others to repair or move machines, machine parts or equipment.

    Manages subordinates in the Machine Shop.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the shift or area assigned.  Also directly supervises multiple non-supervisory employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.


    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    While performing the duties of this job, this role is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In addition, too, this role frequently operates in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
