Position: Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Location: Erie, PA

Status: Direct Hire

Job Descriptions

The purpose of the Manufacturing Engineering Technician – (MET) is to perform all required tasks to develop or coordinate the development of manufacturing processes for selected parts using basic process development methodology. Responsible for developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance. Assists engineers, inspects products, conducts tests, and collects data. Effectively participates in a setting to achieve results. Effectively complete basic projects with guidance from engineering.  Ability to effectively train and be trained. 


  • Assist Engineers in identifying, creating, and applying manufacturing best practices and standards by means of work instructions, set up and operations of plant manufacturing processes.
  • Assist Engineering in developing work travelers, interpreting customer print specifications, and identifying proper tooling for each program.
  • Assist engineers as they create, modify, and test products and processes.
  • Utilize available software programs for manufacturing purposes.
  • Utilize software programs to implement basic CNC programs for production and prototypes.
  • Contribute to the development of robust manufacturing processes for new job opportunities.
  • Capture and document all data relevant to final process.
  • Communicate variation in final process from quoted process.
  • Provide feedback to help determine process readiness for production floor.
  • Perform research and development during creation phase of product.
  • Inspect products and processes for flaws and identify areas of improvement.
  • Conduct tooling and inspection tests and collect data.
  • Calibrate test equipment.
  • Maintain all corrective actions internally.  Monitor and report on effectiveness of improvements.
  • Assist Engineering in the quotation process by following quality planning and customer related requirements.
  • Know, understand, and follow safety rules and regulations defined in handbook.
  • Know, understand, and follow the Quality Policy and ISO 9002/AS 9100 procedures and Nadcap procedures.
  • Understand and follow Quality Operating Procedures (Q.O.P.)
  • Write Process Change Notices (PCN)
  • Evaluate in-process Process Change Notice (PCN) as needed
  • Write Quality Change Notices (QCN)
  • Verify proper Quality Change Notice (QCN) implementation.
  • While developing a new process:
    • Create basic part, fixture, gage programs.
    • Modify existing part, fixture, gage programs.
    • Perform various CNC lathe, mill, and/or EDM machine set-ups.
    • Generate detailed proposals for basic projects.
    • Perform routine daily preventive maintenance.
    • Identify heat numbers and keep separate.
    • Identify, loading, and unloading of proper raw materials into the machine.
    • Preparing the machine for daily production run.


  • Associate engineering degree or technical equivalent degree, or 7 years in related field of manufacturing.
  • Less than 2 years of experience as an Engineer.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating CNC lathes, Mills, and EDM’s.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in EDM application or development.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in programming CNC Lathe, Mill, and EDM’s.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in setting up CNC Lathe, Mill, and EDM’s.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding part prints including gauge points, section views, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Machining aerospace grade metals maintaining ±.0005-inch tolerance preferred.
  • Experience in EdgeCAM, GibbsCAM, AutoCAD and/or Solidworks is a plus.
  • Proficient in basic computer and office software skills.
  • Proficient in performing all the tasks described in the above job description.
  • Experienced and able to use all forms of inspection equipment.
