Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing - General Laborer Light for the Industrial Business Group located in Aston, PA. Great opportunity to apply your talent in different ways that matter.

Position is an entry level production. Performs simpler operations independently and assists a Senior Processor on more complex production operations. Maintains a safe work environment while material handling, mixing, blending, agglomerating, packaging solid and liquid raw materials and ensuring quality of product. Works for the Manufacturing department with direction from Supervisor and/or Shift Leader.

Position:        Manufacturing - MNF General Laborer Light 

Location:        Aston, PA 19014

Duration:       6 months

Schedule:      Mon. – Fri.    6:00 am - 4 pm

Pay rate:        $ 14 hr

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all Corporate and Plant Policies
  • Knows and understands all machine safety requirements.
  • Operate equipment necessary to perform material handling, mixing, blending, agglomeration, sifting, and micropowders operations as defined by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), water and/or solvent operations.
  • Accurately executes and reports production Log Sheet (written and electronic) as required by the production step being performed.
  • Clean production equipment and perform product changeovers as defined by SOPs.
  • Adequately understand and detect product quality abnormalities which require attention of Supervisor and/or Shift Leader.
  • Consistently perform manufacturing operations at acceptable quality and expected productivity rates.
  • Notify Supervisor and/or Shift Leader if unable to meet expected quality and production rates.
  • Inform appropriate personnel of any maintenance issues.
  • PIV certified, as required.
  • Maintain 5S standards.
  • Actively participate in Plant’s continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills (add, subtract, multiply with percentages).
  • Understand equipment operation in material handling, mixing, blending, agglomeration, sifting, and micropowders to achieve quality product.
  • Know how to find and interpret SOPs.
  • Understand how each production step affects the next production step.
  • Able to complete production Log Sheets for the operation being performed, accurately completing written Log Sheets and data entry into IMES/SAP.

Experience:

Entry level

  • Satisfactory production with coaching by Senior processor, Shift Leader, and/or Supervisor.
  • Up to and including 2 months

Classified Rate

  • Satisfactory production without coaching in all production steps identified herein.
  • Over 2 months to and including 6 months

Judgement:

  • Work safely while performing production duties.
  • Ensure quality of the product by following SOPs
  • Notify Supervisor and/or Shift Leader of issues impacting production quality and/or productivity.
  • Identify and communicate possible cause and effect relationships effecting quality and/or productivity.

Manual Skill: 

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive motions, including lifting and turning.
  • Bend and scoop material from barrels/drums.

Materials & Products:

  • Utilize all materials and products accurately per production Log Sheets.
  • Understand all products and materials being used in order to maintain safe working environment and minimize waste generation.
  • Mistakes made may result in lost material and/or poor quality but should be contained internally (i.e. not visible to Customer).

Tools & Equipment:

  • Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
  • Calculator, computer, PLC HMI’s, etc.
  • Production equipment, scoops, scales, brooms, hand pallet jacks, product carts, powered walk-behind pallet jacks, etc.

Mental Effort:

  • Maintain attention to detail and follow production standards in order to produce a quality product efficiently.
  • Need to stay aware of manufacturing environment and surroundings
  • Basic operation that is repetitive with minor deviations; need to stay alert to avoid errors

Physical Effort:

  • Moderate to significant physical exertion.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs at heights ranging from 1 to 6 feet from the ground.
  • Push/pull material drums up to 100 lbs.
  • Full range of motions required (i.e. bend, twist, repetitive motion, etc).

Surroundings:

  • Basic factory environment.
  • Chemical odors exist for some operations
  • Indoor production facility; some production areas are not climate controlled.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, industrial equipment, etc.

Hazards:

  • Handling flammable solvents
  • Other hazards include dust, noise, moving industrial equipment, hot temperatures (oven), basic factory environment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided.
