Job Description

Volt is seeking a Lab Equipment Technician for an immediate start in Hayward, CA!!

The position is NOT a manufacturing technician job.  It’s a support position that is primarily focused on keeping track of equipment calibration, scheduling as needed PMs, performing basic equipment maintenance (oil changes, trap emptying),monitoring our temperature tracking systems and responding to alarms (possibly after hours), backing up raw material receiving and acting as liaison for third party facility  maintenance.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining in good working order:
  •    Lab safety (lab safety stations)
  • Inventory integrity systems (generator, temp. monitoring system)
  •   Security system (maintain security cameras)
  •     Lab equipment requiring regular light maintenance and/or relocation
  • Ensure manufacturing lab equipment is under PM contracts and is properly documented and labeled with calibration status. Tag out equipment that is out of service in a timely manner. Schedule calibration in timely fashion to ensure compliance
  • Maintain key manufacturing systems through regular maintenance and checks (DI water system flush, clean cold traps on Speed-vacs, check generator, ice abatement in freezers, mold abatement in fridges)
  • Replace filters on air handlers as needed and other minor facility upkeep (change light bulbs, add soap to dispensers)
  • Coordinate repairs & upgrades to facility and equipment as necessary with contractors and facilities staff
  • Maintain company’s hazardous materials list.
  • Gather and arrange for disposal of company waste including chemical, electronic, lab glass & chemical containers
  • Provide support in receiving including receipt and stocking of kitchen and janitorial supplies

Qualifications (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities) & Experience:

  • Experience with equipment maintenance and handling preferred
  • Experience with lab safety maintenance preferred
  • Facility maintenance experience in life science company a plus
  • Ability to independently plan and organize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience working under Quality System highly preferred.
  • Ability to multitask required.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Education: Minimum high school degree, AA preferred
