Manufacturing Supervisor

Day shift, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

Salary depends on experience

Volt has partnered with a leading and innovative manufacturing company in SE Portland. Our client is looking to fill an open position as a Manufacturing Supervisor. This position is a 6+ month contract opportunity, with the possibility of full time based on performance. Qualified candidates would have at least 5 years of experience leading a team in a manufacturing, production, or assembly line environment.


  • Lead the assembly department to ensure daily production goals are met.
  • Hire, train, and allocate capable and motivated assembly labor from agencies to work across key processes. Be the go-to-person for agency communication and individual attendance/needs.
  • Maintain all key equipment and tooling (press, burp, cut, glue, assembly, rivet, QA) in order to keep production running without downtime. Work with local service providers as needed.
  • Revise and improve process documentation (work instructions) where necessary.
  • Report and communicate production quantity/mix daily, weekly, monthly to team members. Ensure QuickBooks Enterprise accurate and current with inventory of components and finished goods daily.

Required Skills, Education & Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience managing teams in assembly line, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Experience in production labor supervision required. Requires on premises management but schedule may be flexible.
  • Clear and demonstrable understanding of multiple production operations – casting, stamping, forming, extrusion, assembly, and riveting.
  • Track record of continuous improvement implementations.
  • Committed to strong inventory management practices.
  • Ability to build floor, supplier, and agency relationships.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Communicates often and concisely when issues or ideas needed.
  • Strong technical acumen and customer service orientation. Flexible to order/business changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet schedules/targets and reliably manage multiple activities in parallel.
  • Ability to work in a small group environment with limited resources
  • Basic Administrative skills including MS Office
  • BS/BA degree in engineering or technical equivalent preferred, but not required.
