Job Description

Now hiring for skilled Technicians with manufacturing experience that are mechanically inclined with operating any type of machinery.  

Summary: 

Coating Operators are responsible for the operation, maintenance and assistance in development coating platforms; including MicroDyn, PVD, LPCVD machines. Cross-training on other DSI coating platforms may be provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate Coating Machines: requires a basic understanding of coating technology or the ability to learn while on the job, mechanical skills, trouble-shooting skills and the ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Process and inspect parts. Clean and load parts into coating chamber.
  • Coating machine maintenance: requires the ability to assemble and disassemble equipment, bead blasting, perform target changes through physical agility.
  • Perform and maintain workplace housekeeping duties.
  • Must be able to use grinder or small hand tools.
  • Must be shift flexible; must be willing to work day, swing or mid-shift.
  • Must be able to analyze coatings (spectrophotometer)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior coating or related experience preferred; one year certificate from college or technical school desirable.                              
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations with other employees. 
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions and apply changes to a process. Ability to adapt to change, detail oriented, patient.
  • Basic math and intermediate computer skills, knowledge of spreadsheet software, (Excel).
  • Must be willing to work day, swing or mid shift.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 38 pounds and occasionally lift and or push/pull up to 45 pounds. Requires the ability to wear a respirator.
