Job Description

Volt seek seasoned coordinators to take on the role of Master Project Scheduler with one of our major defense clients located in Clifton, NJ.  In this role you will perform as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Project Scheduling and Project Scheduling Tools (e.g. MS Project, forProject, PERT Chart EXPERT, Risk Analysis, MS Project Server, etc.).

This position is specifically responsible for managing Project Scheduling expertise as it relates to the application and use of data within enterprise Microsoft Project for scheduling and resource plan analysis of active and forecasted projects. Manages technical aspects of the use of the software tools and trains cross-functional teams in use of these tools to ensure program establishment and on-going use. The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing integrated master schedules companywide and support of individual program schedules. This position works closely with program teams to maintain cost/schedule practices and provide project schedule oversight for analysis and identifying impacts/risks. It also works closely with financial analysts on programs requiring Earned Value to establish and maintain cost/schedule integration in compliance with the company EVMS.

  • 8+ Years of experience in program planning and control and/or scheduling work, business management, or program/project management, and earned value management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with direct interfacing to Program Managers and Project Team Members in analyzing cost/schedule performance especially on programs requiring Earned Value to estimate and maintain cost/schedule integration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in project controls of establishing baseline plans, managing/tracking plans, developing and presenting corrective action plans, mitigation strategies based on schedule risk assessment, critical path analysis, change management, and other business-related functions required to control a project.
  • Prior work experience creating and/or maintaining an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and any Supporting Schedules on assigned projects/programs; creating and presenting project-level reports, presentations and deliverables that reflect risk and status to program management and senior management relating to the IMS.


  • Experience training team members (Program Management, technical and financial personnel) in project scheduling methods and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) to support program execution.
  • Experience performing Schedule Risk Assessments (SRA) utilizing monte-carlo based tools with the program schedule.
  • Working knowledge of resource loaded scheduling and is proficient in the use of the automated scheduling tool, Microsoft Project 2010.
  • Good basic knowledge of current accounting systems and procedures, working knowledge of C.A.S., F.A.R., and sound business management principles and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of issues involved in structuring new processes, strong quantitative abilities, and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
