Master Scheduler

I have an open position for one of my clients in Everett, Washington (near Seattle) who is seeking a Master Scheduler for a direct, full-time role.

  • The Master Scheduler is responsible for creating and maintaining the company’s master production schedule by creating capacity plan, level loading the production facility, creating processes and procedures, and managing/assisting planners in loading forecasts, creating production orders, and tracking completion of orders for delivery.
  • This job will require some project management skills in team building, analysis of current process flow and development of future state process map.
  •  A Master Scheduler completes a number of tasks, such as planning rules and modifiers to drive manufacturing software such as MS and MRP, planning and monitoring the cost of projects, preparing schedules with inputs from several primarily contract sources, and understanding the work and time involved in planning each activity.
  • The master scheduler is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring products through the complete production cycle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING

  • Creates master schedule
  • Creates and maintains capacity plan to level load the facility
  • Manages production work orders and forecasts
  • Ensures SMT has a weekly schedule a week ahead of time
  • Ensures coordination of kitting and set up to meet the SMT schedule
  • Develop and implement system to track on time kit delivery to floor
  • Team building and project management skills of assessing current and future state process flow
  • Special work around plans and schedules including unforeseen events
  • Coordinates with Sales, Inventory, Procurement, Production Control and Manufacturing to better understand lead times for master scheduled items, seeks ways to reduce internal lead times as well as lead times to the customer
  • Conducts Capacity Planning prior to publishing a Master Schedule
  • Summarizes daily and weekly Master Schedules for released orders and compares these to the Operating Plan Creates a Master Schedule that satisfies customer demand while level loading work to be released to manufacturing and optimizing inventory levels and resource utilization
  • Creates a Master Schedule that can be used for detailed material/capacity planning
  • Provides monthly Capacity Planning, maintains and updates capacity data for all critical resources/work cells
  • Maintains scheduling parameters, such as lead times, lot sizes, and cycle times, etc.
  • Liaisons with Engineering, Buyers/Planners and Operations Managers to ensure appropriate labor, machine and scrap standards are considered in the master schedule
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in industrial engineering, manufacturing supply chain or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 to 5 years of progressive experience in Scheduling/Production Planning or Production Control in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in working with manufacturing software such as MS and MRP
  • Experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity and efficiency measurements
  • APICS certification desired

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels
  • Ability to works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Proficient with Oracle Business Intelligence systems.
  • Must be proficient in Excel (advanced formulas, pivots, if/then)
  • Strong collaboration abilities with Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Management
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities
  • Proficient in MS office applications
