We are looking to hire a Material Coordinator for our client in Dartmouth, NS for approximately an 11 months' assignment with the possibility of extension through Volt Workforce Solutions Canada.

SUMMARY / SCOPE OF POSITION:

This position requires an individual with strong organizational and administrative skills related to the production activities of engineered to order hardware products. The primary responsibility is to coordinate and control the flow of material. Other responsibilities include shipping finished goods and assisting with shop floor production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain and control the flow of project material, by reconciling the receipt of material with Bills of Material; submitting packing slips to Project Administration and creating receivers in the IFS business system.
• Receive requests from Shop Supervisor to expedite the delivery of components required for manufacturing; enlist SSB Purchasing or Supplier’s support to meet delivery requirements.
• Organize FATs with Vendors, Engineering and Project Management; Request documents for export; Make arrangements for shipment; Provide Vendors with Shipping Releases; Advise Project Administration when shipments are complete.
• Control the shipment of discrete component orders to the Client's customers by monitoring receipt, consolidating and kitting goods; submitting packing slips to Project Administration; creating receivers and arranging shipment.
• Create data labels, wire tags, device tags and lamicoids, from manufacturing drawings.
• Facilitate the extension of part numbers to SSB manufacturing facilities
• Implement a method to maintain and control the flow of consumables as required. (2-Bin)
• As required, establish, maintain and control appropriate inventory levels in IFS to meet business objectives.
• Maintain and control the storage of components or finished goods inventory off the Client's premises as required.
• Create and manage inventory pick lists.
• Perform tasks necessary to build mechanical assemblies, populate enclosures with electrical components to schematic diagrams.
• The position may entail periodic physical exertion to move material or components.
• Out of office travel to vendor locations in the Dartmouth Area, is required.
• Engage in continuous learning to ensure knowledge and competency remains current


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Completion of Post-Secondary education in Supply Chain Management or Logistics preferred
• Formal training in business or a related discipline will be considered

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production environment is required.
• Demonstrated prior experience in a similar organizational function as described above
• Fundamental understanding of electrical or mechanical equipment assembly processes
• Basic knowledge of the Clients' products is an asset
• Basic knowledge of IFS would be preferred
