We are currently looking to hire a Material Handler/Order Picker for our client located in Mississauga, ON.  This is an approx. 9-12 months contract with the potential to turn fulltime for the right candidate.

Role Title: Material Handler/Order Picker

Duration: 9-12 months contract with potential for fulltime.

Location: Mississauga, ON

Shift: Days – 7am to 3pm

Start: As soon as possible

Role Summary

The Material Handler Role will perform all tasks associated with the proper operation & duties of a Material Handler.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safety regulations
  • Move and lift 30-501bs of product as needed
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Determine the proper box size for orders and pack properly to ensure quality
  • Stage packed items on skids
  • Operate a forklift/pallet jack/other manual material handling equipment
  • Operate dock plates and doors
  • Use forklift or pallet jack to move pallets to designated areas
  • Load / unload trailers, or other customer or carriers / pick ups
  • Operate a shrink wrapper
  • Operate computers as need for daily tasks
  • Determine and build packaging based on product size
  • Use RF scanners to determine put away location of receiving location of box contents
  • Demonstrate accuracy in placing product in the correct bin locations
  • Researching inventory discrepancies and report necessary corrections.
  • Fill orders using packing lists as a guide to pick various items
  • Print packing lists and place packing lists on boxes
  • Cycle count designated zones and items
  • Shrink wrap packages to prepare them for shipment
  • Follow company policy, standard operating processes, work instructions, training & best business practices
  • Achieve / maintain performance targets and goats set out by the company
  • Perform other related duties, as required or directed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to consistently lift, push and pull 30-50 lbs
  • Ability to consistently move in a full-range of motion
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete task independently
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (verbally & written)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience driving a fork lift and/or pallet jack     
  • Previous distribution or warehouse experience
