Job Description

Material Handler Position

JOB SUMMARY:    Parts Handler assists with the transporting and handling of parts between operations and departments.

Employees must be available to work all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd), pass a drug, background, physical and  back X-ray. 

Pay rate: $14/hr 


  • Stock production workstations with parts.
  • Rotate heavier parts for production operators when assistance is needed.
  • Load and unload tumblers.
  • Transport parts between operations.
  • Load and unload parts into cart or etching basket.
  • Maintain traceability when handling parts.
  • Inspect and pack pistons.
  • Keep accurate part-counts.
  • Assure quality and production requirements are met.
  • Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.
  • Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by a supervisor.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Ensure adherence to APP’s policies and procedures, including our code of conduct and ethics policy, product safety, employee safety and cultural beliefs.
  • Ensure adherence to all process specifications.
  • Support the Plant quality system goals / improvements & productivity goals / improvements within the scope of the job.

Education and/or Experience

  • On-the-job training is provided for this job.
  • In compliance with ITAR regulations, must be a US Citizen or US Person (U.S. Person = a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:

  • Walk continuously throughout his/her shift.
  • Frequently lift, carry and manipulate parts weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Push/Pull rolling carts requiring up to 60 lbs of force to start movement.
  • Frequently reach, twist and/or bend while loading/ unloading parts from etch cart.

  • Work environment is indoor/outdoor in an heavy industrial manufacturing plant.
  • Temperature in work areas can exceed 100? F throughout work year.
  • Sharp aluminum shavings and burr chips are unavoidable in this job position.  Adequate protective gear is required at all times to avoid injury.
  • Moderate-to-high noise from machinery in work area is constant throughout shift.
