Supply Chain Director- Totem Lake, WA - Direct Hire

The Materials Director’s responsibilities include directing and controlling all materials activities including Purchasing, Production Control, Material Control, Inventory Control, Warehouse and Shipping/ Receiving. Develops and implements policies and procedures, material schedules and coordinates the efficient movement of materials with Purchasing, Engineering, and Production.

Reviews and plans requirements for purchasing material to support Production. Prepares MRP using company ERP (Oracle) Selects, develops, and evaluates subordinate employees Participates with other senior managers to establish plans and objectives. Interacts with customers and other corporate functions to achieve plant objectives. ITAR clearance required. Included, but not limited to, are the following responsibilities:


  • This is a senior position. Oversees, plans, and directs work of staff.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, coaching and mentoring to assist employees in meeting professional goals, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Develop and manage goals for department to include schedule integrity, product lead-times, customer delivery performance, on-time delivery, build complete, inventory turns, Excess & Obsolete management, and delivery to Parts Distribution Center and inter-company plants
  • Ensure that capacity and production is planned to support customer demands while achieving inventory turn and productivity goals
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement product change and new product introduction initiatives within Materials to ensure smooth shop floor introduction
  • Develop, communicate, and implement internal flow strategies that are consistent with long term business objectives, and that are in agreement with directions within Operations, Materials, Logistics, and other functional areas
  • Ensure that the right amount of the right internal material is available to meet agreed upon production demand while also meeting asset management goals, and that line-side replenishment systems for all material support line demand and material flow objectives
  • Identify and pursue continuous improvement in internal material flow processes and systems


  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years of in supply chain management ( Plant order management, plant change control, forecasting, scheduling, material planning, pull systems, inventory control, transportation, purchasing departments management exp)
  •  Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  •  APICS Certification or demonstrated progress toward certification strongly desired
  •  5+ years leadership of a professional materials staff, or equivalent experience leading teams or work groups in a team-based work environment (Level II, III)
  •  Manufacturing environment experience required or preferred


  • Demonstrated knowledge and daily management of MRP II systems for example: Oracle manufacturing or another MRP II system). Fourth shift/ APE
  • Proven ability to set strategies and work plans to drive shop floor material flow and production scheduling improvements
  • Familiarity with various shop floor assembly and material conversion processes
  • Effective problem-solving skills similar to those acquired through Six Sigma and Common Approach to Problem Solving (7-Step)
  • Provide leadership within the Materials organization and within Operations in support of Lean practices.
  •  Strong working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)
