Job Description

Our client has an exciting Mechanical Engineering position with an emphasis on engineering design of complex medical instruments. This individual will collaborate with R&D engineering staff to design, document, prototype, and test complex medical instruments.

We are primarily looking for an individual with strong SolidWorks skills and significant experience designing plastic molded parts and making engineering drawings.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience with designing and documenting mechanical components and assemblies with a particular emphasis on plastic molded parts.
  • Candidate must be will grounded in mechanical engineering design principles and fabrication and assembly techniques for plastic molded parts.
  • Strong conceptual design skills and creativity needed to generate various concept designs for evaluation
  • Ability to discuss designs with tool makers for manufacturability
  • Ability to work in accordance with internal needs, design control guidelines and Quality requirements within the company’s quality system and regulated FDA environment.
  • Takes responsibility for the design control of the assembles instruments and their compliance with design specifications and standard quality and compliance procedures.
  • Takes tasks with minimal guidance and follows them through to completion
  • Provides support to Verification activities.

Typical Experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: BS in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 or more years’ work experience or Associates Degree/technical certificate plus 10 years’ experience designing mechanical systems, equipment and components.  Medical devise or diagnostics industry or a relevant field preferred.
  • Training/proficiency in SolidWorks, PLM systems (Windchill preferred), Design for Manufacturability, engineering drawing standards including GD&T, CAD modeling, rapid prototyping.
