The product line has become a ‘de-facto’ standard for deployed IP communications in the US Army and USMC.

Mechanical Engineer – Direct Hire

Location – Portland, OR

Pay - DOE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conceptual design, 3D modeling, Piece part and Assembly level drawings
  • Lead design engineer directing support personnel
  • Engineering project management
  • Vendor and internal department liaison
  • Develop product design schedules and cost estimates
  • Support engineering releases and revisions
  • Support development testing and validation
  • Analyze failures and recommend corrective action
  • Hands on prototype validation

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Advanced 3D CAD and mechanical design. Solidworks experience is essential
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related experience
  • 5+ years of advanced design of mechanical/ electro-mechanical assemblies
  • 3 years of senior product design experience
  • Knowledge of thermal / vibration/shock design
  • Basic structural and fluid dynamics
  • Basic thermal and airflow calculations
  • Design of Sheet metal, Injection molding, Thermoform and Machined parts, Cable assemblies, PCB design
  • Develop test plans, fixtures and conduct testing (thermal, vibration, shock…)
  • Understanding of product design for outdoor and dynamic environments. Military product design highly desirable
  • Familiar with Mil-Std-810, Mil-Std 461
  • Working knowledge of fasteners, press-in hardware, adhesives and assembly methods
  • Knowledge of materials (aluminum, plastics, copper …) and finishes (anodizing, painting, plating…)
  • Experience with cable harnesses, wiring and cable management products
  • Knowledge of UL requirements for safety of electronic assemblies. Wire size, wire type, terminals and crimping requirements, electrical terminations
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions quickly
  • Conduct internal design reviews and interface directly with customer and internal departments regarding product requirements and details
  • Hands on involvement with manufacturing group evaluating prototypes of new products and implementing improvements in the design for manufacturability
  • Knowledge of Bill of Materials structure and documentation standards (ANSI Y14.5)
