Mechanical Engineering Technician

This company in Tukwila, WA, (near Seattle) which manufactures innovative load moving equipment, utilizing wheels and hovercraft technology, that move heavy, awkward, or delicate loads in factories is seeking a Mechanical Engineer.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, designing and support construction of custom engineered transport and material handling solutions.  Projects cover a broad spectrum of high visibility, fast paced, fields throughout international industries including aerospace, petroleum, nuclear, semi-conductor, marine, and heavy manufacturing. Engineered solutions require creative design skills, problem solving techniques, communication and teamwork. Engineering activities directed towards design and development of load moving structural systems and mechanical components for general industry, defense, and aerospace focusing on the use of specialized company air casters. Transform product concepts and 3D models into working design documents.  Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Work with internal departments and customers through entire project from quote to installation to ensure products meet customer requirements, budgeted costs, scheduled timeline, and manufacturing efficiency. Serve as effective communicator able to make technical presentations and develop relations resulting in high customer confidence, future business opportunities, and distinction of service. Act as the manufacturability expert within the engineering group, using real world experience to implement the best design and assembly practices for long term hard use equipment. Drive initiatives for product improvements based upon feedback from sales representatives, customers, and end users.

Troubleshooting and testing of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Must have the technical knowledge and vocabulary to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, manufacturing personnel, and engineering staff. Tune and troubleshoot of equipment in field conditions. Physical fitness to work under, inside, and around large equipment while performing installation, removal, or testing of heavy components occasionally weighing over 70 pounds. Clearly and professionally interact with customers. Must be available for worldwide travel.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience a plus. Mechanical design experience of 2+ years in industrial products. Working knowledge of machinery / automation design, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems. Drafting competency in a current version of SolidWorks. Must have the ability to create and understand schematic drawings, and other drawings in a manufacturing establishment to determine work procedures. Extensive field work experience with the judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a timely manner. Proven hands-on abilities with common fabrication and assembly processes. Experience with systems integrated with PLC control a big plus.

Proficient in the use Microsoft Office suite, specifically MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with customers. Strong leadership skills
