MECHANICAL LAB TECHNICIAN – LISLE, IL, 6 Month Contract  

Volt Workforce Solutions is searching for a Mechanical Lab Technician for our client based in Lisle, IL..  This is a 6 month contract with our client in the interconnectivity and electronics solutions business and they are looking for great people to grow with them. With general supervision, performs standard and complex tests, analysis and evaluations of electronic connectors, cables, and electronic solutions products. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Sets up and operate standard and custom test equipment including microscopes, Instron type force equipment, vibration, mechanical shock and other mechanical tests.
  • Conducts product evaluation and performance analysis. Establish performance and reliability of the products being tested.
  • Prepare test samples for mechanical testing. 
  • Evaluates results and provides corrective actions or recommendations.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • 2 year Associate's degree in a technical field 
  • 2+ years professional experience in a laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of Windows/MS Office applications.
  • Ability to operate mechanical test equipment and environmental test chambers.
  • Ability to read and understand industry standards and apply appropriate test methods accordingly.
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Can handle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond to competing priority demands.
  • Ability to keep a working lab neat and organized. 

PREFERRED:

  • Focus on mechanical technology
  • Previous experience in a mechanical or an electronics laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of PC-based statistical analysis software.
  • Knowledge of contact physics
  • Vibration/Shock Testing experience
  • Ability to perform light assembly operations including hand soldering skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of failure analysis.
