Mechatronics Engineer

This manufacturing company located in Denton, Texas (near Dallas) which is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of premium light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer for a full-time, direct role. The client also designs and manufactures advanced diesel engines, provides financial services, information technology, and distributes truck parts related to its principal business. The Advanced Concepts team is looking for a Mechatronics Engineer with interest in supporting innovative design and development in fields including (but not limited to) advanced powertrain, alternative fuels, autonomous driving technologies, human machine interfaces, and more.

The selected candidate will support feasibility studies, concept design generation and prototype builds for new and emerging technologies as defined by the TRL (Technology Readiness Level) process. Coordinate and execute integration and testing activities for multiple simultaneous prototype truck builds located at both internal and external facilities.

Provide assistance to Sales & Marketing teams to showcase development vehicles at trade shows, customer events and the company’s management reviews. Interface directly with key customers to demonstrate new technologies and how they may improve safety, comfort & convenience, vehicle performance and/or productivity in their fleet. Explore new methods of designing and manufacturing of vehicle components. Travel required up to 20% of time. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering or related field required. Advanced Degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License or wiliness / ability to obtain is preferred. Will have knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck components and systems is preferred.

Knowledge of and/or experience in controls development and electrical systems is preferred. Ability to learn diagnostic tools such as CANALYZER, CANOE, etc. Thorough knowledge and experience with Pro/ENGINEER/CREO required. Experience coordinating prototyping of parts required.

Experience coordinating supplier activities required. Experience coordinating pilot activities required. Demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks, ability to learn on the fly, and adapt to change. Demonstrate professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities.  Must be prepared to make presentations directly to the company’s Senior Management. Apply standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision. Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and related computer software.
