Volt Workforce Solutions is currently hiring for a Medical Assistant in the San Diego Area!

Job Description:

  • Under supervision, the Workers’ Compensation Claims Assistant / Examiner will manage the day-to-day activities of a workers’ compensation Medical Only / First Aid caseload from inception to closing.  This includes, but is not limited to, collaborating directly with the injured workers, medical providers, company’s medical staff, supervisors and managers, HR Representatives, outside legal counsel and investigative vendors via e-mail, telephone, standard mail and face-to-face interaction.
  • Handle settlement of claims and liens.
  • Rate all permanent disability upon receipt of the final medical report and determine if indemnity is due, should be delayed or another medical opinion (QME: Qualified Medical Evaluation) is necessary. 
  • Evaluate claims for contribution, reimbursement, subrogation or other recovery options.
  • Calendar statutes and research case law regarding all issues involved in handling an Indemnity claim.
  • Evaluate claims regarding MSA’s and compliance standards for CMS/SSI.
  • Attend file reviews and legal round tables regarding a plan of action and global settlements including employment and labor disputes.
  • Update and review new vendors to keep outside services cost effective and competitive.

Minimum qualifications:

  • College Degree
  • IEA certification required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College or Associates degree is preferred.
  • Self-Insurance Certification will be required for Succession Planning.
  • IEA certification required (WCCA and WCCP)

Experience:

  • Three (3) or more years of claims experience is a plus. However, not necessary since I will be training them.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional claims and customer service results.
