Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions has an immediate opening for a Metallurgical Engineer with our client located in Decatur, IL.

This position provides metallurgical engineering analysis services to enable Caterpillar’s Advanced Materials & Technology (AMT) organization to maintain corporate design control responsibilities for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, heat treatment processing, and other materials-related specifications and practices. For engineering analysis, he or she will investigate and order testing to determine whether the metallurgical properties, structure and associated manufacturing processes are within specifications for the part under analysis. 

This analysis will allow Caterpillar AMT to characterize whether the part meets required standards for use in Caterpillar products and applications.  Individuals must be responsible, team orientated, self-motivated, and possess good time management skills. Individuals need to be detail orientated, dedicated to upholding quality standards, and adaptable to an ever-changing work environment. Excellent work ethic, initiative, and a positive attitude are required. Good communication, teamwork skills, and the ability to support a high velocity-manufacturing environment are critical. Individual must have basic computer skills including MSWord, Excel, and ability to learn shop contol systems.

Individual must possess a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering (or related discipline with relevant experience. Knowledge of the basic principles, theories, and concepts of the quality professional field with some application of standard industrial quality practices, methods, and techniques. Ability to gather, organize, perform basic analysis, and presentation of data.
