Job Description

The Metallurgical Lab Technician reports directly to the Lead Chemist and is responsible for ensuring that all testing, and inspection operations are accomplished in accordance with the applicable customer specifications, drawings, service bulletins, and FAA directives; The Lab Technician is responsible to verify that all work accomplished is properly documented on the forms provided for the particular operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Perform process control test and create test report
  • Maintain records of process control testing
  • Maintain Lab equipment and cleanness of Lab
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and procure materials and supplies required for the metallurgical lab.
  • Perform root cause analysis and identify process control problems and recommend corrective/preventive actions

OTHER DUTIS AS APPLICABLE:

  • Assist in calibration of measuring and test equipment
  • Assist the calibration lab in performance of furnace uniformity surveys and verification of the accuracy of furnace controls
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and follow work instructions
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Understanding complex lab machinery and computer programs used to conduct tests.
  • Written and verbal communication skills. Aptitude for compliance of standards, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Work with their hands and will need dexterity to work with small samples and delicate lab equipment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Experience:

  • Previous 2-year lab experience in Metallurgical testing desired.

Level of Education:

  • Two-year college education in science or engineering or relevant work experience required.
