Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing - General Laborer Heavy for the Industrial Business Group located in Royersford, PA. Great opportunity to apply your talent in different ways that matter.

Position is a support role requiring more work direction. Follows generally defined procedures and performs a variety of general manual labor tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Heavy lifting and moving of materials
  • Loading and unloading vehicles and other activities in a helping or assisting mode
  • May involve working at heights and heavy lifting of 30 pounds or more

Schedule:      Mon. – Fri.    7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Pay rate:        $ 17 hr

JOB SUMMARY: This is an entry level position into the electroplating department. The employee will learn the proper use of PPE for handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and must adhere to all safety protocol.

JOB DUTIES Include but not limited to:

  • Degreasing and drying of the wheels prior to placing them into the stripping baths 
  • Operation and daily inspection of overhead cranes
  • Loading wheels into the strip tanks following proper protocol, using the crane for heavy wheels
  • Chemically strip the nickel plated wheels
  • Wheels must be rotated, scrubbed and moved to the next strip tank daily
  • Once the wheel stripped thoroughly water rinse and force air dry to prevent rusting
  • Place the wheels in the Direct Plating Inspection shelf in the machine shop.
  • De-Preping of plated wheels must be done while wearing a steel mesh glove to prevent cuts
  • De-prep the plated wheel without nicking or scratching the surface of the wheel or the boar
  • Correctly fill out required data and tracking log sheets
  • Maintain the screw and nut inventory keeping the screws and nuts sorted to size.
  • Clean and/or make contact wires used for direct plating dipping
  • Cleaning and painting of large wheels
  • Meet or exceed standardize time for job function
  • Required to train other employees
  • Chemically maintaining the three nickel stripping tanks under the guidance of the Chemical Engineers
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safely run and use required equipment
  • High School Diploma
  • Basic math skills
  • Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork and drawings
  • Minimum 1 years of shop work experience
  • Operate over-head crane

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School or GED required
  • Minimum 1-2  years of related experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Understanding controls and instrumentation
  • Attention to detail and have sound judgment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Plating department is not climate controlled and temperatures can exceed 100°F with humidity of 70%-80% in the summer
  • Prolonged standing
  • Use of hands, fingers and arms to grasp, feel and reach
  • Frequently required to walk
  • Seldom required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Maneuvering a 55 gallon drum using a drum cart
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to grease, noise, epoxies, mild inorganic chemicals, nickel plating baths, solvents and machine coolant.

Qualified applicants will be required to take and pass customer elected testing which evaluates mechanical and problem-solving skills as a part of the selection process.
